Series history

Mali issued three commemoratives at Bamako on 28 December 1970, inscribed SCOUTISME. Claude Jumelet designed the set; the Imprimerie des Timbres-Poste in Paris printed it, comb perforated 13 × 12½ on the horizontal values and 12½ × 13 on the vertical 30 francs. The 5 francs shows two Scouts on the bank pointing toward two others crossing a log bridge. The 30 francs shows a Scout sounding a horn beside a campfire, with others holding torches by a flagpole. The 100 francs shows Scouts paddling two pirogues on a river. Each stamp is inscribed REPUBLIQUE DU MALI and POSTES and carries a Scout fleur-de-lis. The designs were also issued without perforation, and as de luxe proofs on cards marked IMPRIMERIE DES TIMBRES-POSTE - PARIS.
