Series history
Senegal issued two commemoratives at Dakar on 11 December 1970 for the first African Scout Conference, held there from 11 to 14 December. Oscar Bonnevalle designed the pair; Courvoisier S.A. printed them by photogravure, 26 × 37.5 mm, comb perforated 11¾, and also without perforation. The 30 francs shows Scouts at camp: one with a backpack, another signalling with semaphore flags, and a third kneeling by ridge tents. The 100 francs shows a map of Africa with a Scout fleur-de-lis, Dakar marked, and a circular portrait of Robert Baden-Powell. Both stamps are inscribed PREMIERE CONFERENCE AFRICAINE DU SCOUTISME, 11-14 DECEMBRE 1970, DAKAR, and REPUBLIQUE DU SENEGAL POSTE.
