Series history
Upper Volta issued five stamps and a souvenir sheet at Ouagadougou on 18 July 1973 honouring Scouting. They were printed by offset lithography, comb perforated 12½ × 13, about 41 × 52 mm. Sources name no designer or printer. The issue was withdrawn from sale on 31 December 1975.
The 20 f, inscribed POSTES, shows a Scout blowing a bugle at a campsite with two tents. The four airmails are inscribed POSTE AERIENNE: 40 f, a Scout signalling with red-and-white semaphore flags; 75 f, a skier with a backpack on a snowy slope; 150 f, a Scout cooking over a log hearth; and 200 f, a Scout hiking with a staff and a small yellow flag. The souvenir sheet, 80 × 104 mm, comb perforated 12½, holds a 250 f stamp of two Scouts watching the stars, with savanna and a pale-blue cross in the margin.
