Upright. Inscribed FIRST NATIONAL SCOUT JAMBOREE 22nd JANUARY 1978, BANGLADESH and 40 POISHA, with the same in Bengali. A white ridge tent over a camp-fire and a Scout fleur-de-lis on a blue panel. Offset lithography, comb 13, 33 × 45 mm.

Series history

Bangladesh issued three commemoratives on 22 January 1978 for the first national Scout jamboree. Each stamp is lettered FIRST NATIONAL SCOUT JAMBOREE 22nd JANUARY 1978, with BANGLADESH and the same wording in Bengali.

Harrison & Sons printed the set by offset lithography, comb perforated 13, in panes of 50, 150,000 of each value. The designer is not settled.

The 40 poisha, upright, 33 × 45 mm, shows a white ridge tent over a camp-fire and a Scout fleur-de-lis. The 3.50 taka, landscape, 45 × 33 mm, shows Scouts carrying a stretcher beside a circular Scout emblem. The 5 taka, upright, 33 × 45 mm, shows a three-finger Scout salute and a fleur-de-lis.
