Series history
Libya issued four stamps and two souvenir sheets on 22 August 1980, lettered SOCIALIST PEOPLE'S LIBYAN ARAB JAMAHIRIYA, for the eighth Pan-Arab Girl Guide Jamboree and the fourteenth Pan-Arab Scout Jamboree, both dated August 1980 on the stamps. M. Sialah designed the issue. Offset lithography, comb perforated 13¼; the stamps measure 36 × 46 mm and the sheets 67 × 95 mm. The printer is not established.
The 15 and 30 dirhams are inscribed 8th PAN ARAB GIRL GUIDE JAMBOREE: Girl Guides examining a plant, in an orange frame; two Girl Guides cooking at camp, in a red frame. The 50 and 115 dirhams are inscribed 14th PAN ARAB SCOUT JAMBOREE: Scouts cooking over a campfire, in a purple frame; two Scouts reading a map in the desert, in a green frame.
The 100 dirham souvenir sheets repeat the plant and campfire designs. The Guides sheet has a beige margin; the Scouts sheet a green one. Each carries the jamboree emblem above the stamp and the Libyan Scout and Guide badge — a trefoil with a palm tree and wings — below.
